There is pain, in this world, that once experienced leaves a permanent scar in our heart. We are changed for as long as we live. And though we walk through life, and laugh, and love; something of ourselves has been removed.
I believe, being Catholic, that when we talk about the peace of God; we are talking about that moment when God returns our hearts to the way they were before that pain. To those who have experienced such suffering, that alone would be salvation.
Bobby,
That first paragraph strikes some chords. Excuse my asking, but is that yours? It is introspect at it’s best and wonderfully written.
I am not Catholic but I am familiar as I went to St. Anthony’s on Wednesdays to be with my friends. Father Ucker (No joke there. That was his name and I’ve never met a better person.) was an inspiration.
I’m not sure I want my pain(s) lessened. My sufferings are a big part of who I am and…well, I kind of like the me that I am. If the pain is taken away then I lose some of me don’t I? Who will I be then?
I understand(assume) that your thoughts may not be literal.
I hope you understand that my thoughts are mostly drunken ramblings.
Very pleased that you are posting again Bob.
All my best,
Jimmy
p.s. The frames on this page when replying with FireFox seem to be overlayed. Not sure how to fix it…but I’ll look into it.
I wrote is, yes. One of those late night (actually early morning) musings that I would have forgotten had I not written it down. I’m glad someone else got something out of it.
Bobby
Fair warning my friend. I must hug you next we meet.
I called me Mum and read it to her. (Lost her husband of 39 years to cancer, was diagnosed with stage IV cancer in both lungs nearly 4 years ago 2 weeks after her granddaughter was diagnosed with leukemia.)
She wept. And asked me to read it again. And once more. She then told me to give you a hug for her. Damnit. I gotta hug a guy…
I might have a photo that could fit with the text. With your permission, I’d like to include your text within that photo for my Mother. And you if you’d like.
Jimmy
I would be honored Jimmy.
